It's been said that former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee needs to do well in Iowa in order to survive the crowded race for the Republican nomination.
But Iowa's top political columnist David Yepsen writes today that the "good-humored" Huckabee is not spending enough time in Iowa to make a break into the top tier.
"Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is a good-humored former Baptist preacher who gives the best stump speech of any Republican in the race. But he's not spent enough time in Iowa, and, like (Tommy) Thompson, lacks a portfolio on national-security issues. He is in a stiff competition with Brownback for the votes of social conservatives and might have trouble raising the money needed to compete successfully," writes Yepsen.

Why doesn't Huckabee run for U.S. Senate against Mark Pryor next year?
