Hillary to Report $36 Million in 1st Quarter

The deadline for 1st quarter political fundraising was midnight Saturday.

The Democratic frontrunner for the 2008 nomination has revealed her numbers to the media in a conference call, and The Hotline has the lowdown.

While Sen. Hillary Clinton will report raising $36 million dollars, that number doesn't tell the entire story. The real number she raised over the last 3 months is $26 million. She has transferred about $10 million in from her U.S. Senate campaign account.

And that isn't really the number either, because the campaign isn't saying how they will separate the money between the primary and general election.

The early buzz is that while that number IS a boatload of money -- and Clinton IS expected to top her rivals -- it may not look as daunting when Sen. Barack Obama reveals he has raised more than $20 million.
