Voter Fraud - a month early

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis election officials are accusing a national group that signs up new voters of turning in bogus
registration cards.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now -- or ACORN -- says it stands by the integrity of the voter registration
process.

St. Louis City Board of Election Commissioners chairman Kim Mathis says at least 1,500 potentially fraudulent voter registration cards were turned in by the St. Louis ACORN branch.

Other states, including Ohio, have made similar allegations this year.  Commissioners say invalid voter registrations solicited by ACORN workers included dead people registering and forged signatures. They want someone prosecuted.  ACORN spokesman Brian Mellor says the nonprofit works hard to monitor its workers.
