Blunt renews support for stem cell amendment

Give him credit for courage: Missouri Governor Matt Blunt repeated his support for Amendment 2 (the stem cell amendment). According to the A.P, Blunt says it's necessary to ensure that Missouri has a research climate that allows for responsible scientific research.

Blunt's support separates him from other big time Republicans like Sen. Jim Talent and President Bush who don't support stem cell research. Blunt once again puts himself at odds with Missouri Right to Life, which has previously declared Blunt NOT pro-life because of his support of the amendment.

2008 will be the big test. Will MRL endorse a third party just as the have endorsed me this election because the GOPer is pro death? Or will they endorse Matt because he is the lesser of two evils?

If the governor is so pro-research, how come he allowed the MOHELA board to stipulate that buildings built with the money from the sale of loans could not sponsor stem-cell research?

I actually take the tact that Blunt is not so courageous.

If we are to believe your previous stories and all the spin other media formats are putting out, then Blunt's position is actually quite popular and is no where as near as courageous as Talent's.

Chris-Not to worry, Matt Blunt will not be running for Govenor of Missouri in 2008. With the prospects of being a minority leader than a majority leader, Roy will being serving his last term as the representative of Missouri 7th. Rumors have Roy moving to K-Street in 2008, leaving Sonny free to replace him. The party has come to the realization that Matt Blunt is likely not a winning statewide candidate in 2008, so they will be looking elsewhere. It also allows the Blunts to continue to feed at the public trough that they are so quick to denigrate. Roy and wife, along with a son and a daughter as lobbyists and another son as a US representative.
So I believe the question is: Will the Missouri 7th elect a candidate who supports Amendment 2?

If the last name on a republican ballot is Blunt, the voters will fall for anything. Roy is as corrupt as they come, but that has never phased the voters.
