As I write this, polls are set to open in just 7 hours . . . Primary Day 2006 in Missouri has finally arrived!
Here's a summary from the political site Politics1.com. (Scroll down to Monday's update.)
There are many important choices for voters to make tomorrow on all levels, but unfortunately most people aren't paying attention just yet. Historically, two groups of people turn out to cast ballots in primaries . . . party regulars, ideologues, the base, the faithful . . . -AND- . . . those who are thoroughly annoyed and angry about something and motivated enough to do something about it.
Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff is predicting about a 20% turnout Tuesday. It's really not clear yet that beyond insiders and political junkies . . . John Q. public is really fired up about Tuesday's election. There might be exceptions in certain hot legislative primaries . . . only time will tell.
But primary day also serves another purpose . . . it's the official kick-off of the general election campaign. It's when the rest of the public starts paying attention. People in the voting booth will determine whether Tuesday's primary is a shake-up or an affirmation of the status quo.
Either way, I'd like to personally thank all of you for supporting our efforts so far here at the KY3 Political Blog. You are the ones who have made this site a success, and will continue to improve it in the future. No matter what political persuasion, I commend all of you for caring so much about what I believe is the most important thing we cover as journalists . . . policy and the politics behind it. I can only promise you that no matter what the outcome tomorrow --our coverage will kick into even higher gear as we head towards November. That means the most fair, comprehensive, provocative and interactive coverage of politics in the Ozarks.
I've enjoyed the ride so far . . . and it's about to get even better!

The blog is a great addition to the political scene. It is another source of information on politics. Frankly the paper isn't doing much on the races and regular tv news doesn't have enough time for anything in much depth. I hope the focus will continue to be on issues and not just who do people think will win or who has more money but I understand that those too are sometimes relevant. Your blog has been fair and balanced. Something Bob Tomato and other Republicans in the area are not used to and apparantly can't tolerate. Imagine that--intolerance from a Republican.
