ST. LOUIS (AP) - New touch-screen voting machines designed to make today's primary election run smoother are apparently causing some problems in the St. Louis area.
Election officials describe the problems as minor and isolated.
Paper ballots are on hand at each polling place as a backup.
Early today, incumbent Republican U-S Senator Jim Talent and the Democrat who hopes to unseat him in November, Claire McCaskill, both cast their ballots in St. Louis County.
Sen. Talent and Ms. McCaskill will be in Springfield this afternoon.
