Ashcroft May Testify on Hospital Showdown

Newsweek reports former Attorey General John Ashcroft is being asked to testify behind closed-doors re: the hospital confrontation over eavesdropping requests.

According to the article, Congressmen are frustrated by the lack of candor administration officials are brining to their investigation. They want information and are not getting.

Ashcroft is a pretty stand-up guy, but he's also extremely loyal, particularly to the president who made him attorney general. His people meet with the Senate committee's people Monday to discuss the parameters for any such testimony.
