Obama Files
Sen. Barack Obama has taken the initial step in a presidential bid that could make him the nation's first black to occupy the White House.
He made the announcement in a video message on his website.
"I certainly didn't expect to find myself in this position a year ago," Obama said in a video posting. "I've been struck by how hungry we all are for a different kind of politics. So I've spent some time thinking about how I could best advance the cause of change and progress that we so desperately need."
Obama promises an official announcement by February 10th, at an event somewhere in Illinois.
Right now, the readers of the liberal Daily Kos blog favor Sen. John Edwards, but Obama still registers 27%.
A recent CBS poll shows that although most people don't yet know what to specifically think about Obama, they still like him.
Will he win Sen. McCaskill's endorsement?

It's a setup. Obama loses to Hillary in the runup, then becomes her VP in the general. Who would dare to NOT vote for a woman-and-black-man ticket, lest they be called "woman-hating" and "racist"?
Brilliant strategy.
