ST. ANN, Mo. (AP) - Governor Blunt says he has no vice-presidential aspirations.
The governor was asked Tuesday during an unrelated news conference whether he was being considered as a potential running mate for Republican Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts.
Speculation about Blunt's aspirations was fueled after he took vacation to Alaska with Romney in September. They also traveled together to Iraq and Afghanistan in May.
Romney is considering a bid for president in 2008 and has begun raising money, but hasn't formally declared he's running. Blunt says he and Romney are good friends. He says the only
office he might pursue in 2008 is that of governor.

It's hard to take the boy wonder's denials seriously when he shows up sitting next to Mitt and Ann Romney at a very public $6.5M fundraiser in Boston yesterday...
And it shows up on the front page of the NY Times!
Why is it even a question, whether he might consider a position as a running mate? Blunt has a 60% disapproval rating. What could he possibly bring to the ticket? And Romney is dreaming if he thinks he has any hope of gaining the nomination at the top of the ticket.
I think it's more about Matt Blunt's positioning and visibility, less a realistic hope he will actually end up on a ticket. I bet he's also enjoying the front-row view of launching a national campaign.
How old was Quayle when he got the VP spot?
