St. Louis County Reports Record Absentees

Missouri's biggest voting county is reporting a record amount of absentee ballots for a midterm election year, according to FOX News.

St. Louis County has received more absentee ballots than ever in a non-presidential year. The County is projecting to count around 22,000 absentee ballots before Tuesday's voting.

According to FOX News' Jeff Goldblatt, the prior record for absentees in a non-presidential year in the county was around 16,000.

St. Louis County is the largest voting jurisdiction in Missouri. Of the state's 4 million registered voters, 15% live in that county. The record absentee turnout is leading election officials in St. Louis County to predict record turnout Tuesday. It's possible that 70% of registered voters in the county could cast ballots, according to Goldblatt's report.

Goldblatt adds that the Missouri Republican Party is upbeat about this news, because absentee ballots usually break towards Republicans. It's notable that in recent years, more Democrats have moved into St. Louis County.
