The Most Important Day Before Tuesday

The Thursday before the election may just be the most important day of the last month for political campaigns.

According to the ABC News Political Unit, today can also be a day of tough conversations for campaigns on their way to a loss.

"The Thursday before the Tuesday of Election Day is when honest campaign pollsters who have decent relationships with their candidate clients begin to warn them that things are looking tough," writes ABC's The Note.

"These discussions often are held in conjunction with decisions about closing advertising and other voter communication messages. In most of these instances, the question on the table is how negative on the opposition (and on which topics) the campaign should be in the final days in order to pull out a win."

According to campaigns, it is also the day when final decisions must be made about advertising. For instance, whether or not to go negative in the final weekend flurry of activity. Most new weekend ad deals have to be solidified by Friday morning at the latest.

It is also the day when campaigns (with the funding and wherewithal to do so) launch critical tracking polls to see exactly where they stand, where the momentum is moving.

According to The Hotline's Chuck Todd, the polls taken on Wednesday and Thursday will give each candidate a very good sense of their chances on Tuesday (barring a news event of unexpected and enormous proportion.)

Which candidates will receive good news or bad news today?

Which won't receive any at all?
