The Beltway Boys Split On Senate Race

FOX News Channel's Beltway Boys split on their prediction in the race for Missouri's U.S. Senate seat.

Fred Barnes: Talent won his Senate seat in 2002 by an eyelash. McCaskill lost for Governor in 2004 to Matt Blunt by a very narrow margin, so you don't have a couple of landslide candidates. It's been a very close race, been a dead heat the whole time. I think that Talent is stronger though, and I also think the embryonic stem cell research referendum is going to go down.

Mort Kondracke: I thought the stem cell amendment was going to be the factor that pulled McCaskill through. I'm really not sure of that anymore because that campaign has not been well-conducted but my rule of thumb is that undecideds break against the incumbent if it's not over 50% so the Beltway Boys call for Missouri is, I say McCaskill wins, Fred is sticking with Jim Talent.

Whoever loses this race will probably blame it on the stem-cell issue. If big religion can rally it's troops (despite the never ending embarressment of their hypocritical leaders)Talent will prevail. I have a feeling that alot of church goers will tell each other how bad this stem-cell thing is, and then behind the curtain vote for it!
