Sen. Claire McCaskill joined with a number of other Senate Democrats Tuesday in voicing opposition to legislation that would freeze scheduled cuts in Medicare payments to doctors for the next 10 years, reports The Hill.
The D.C. paper said passing that legislation is central to Majority Leader Harry Reid’s strategy for passing a broad healthcare reform bill in coming weeks.
But the five Democrats -- including McCaskill -- are insisting that the legislation, which costs $247 billion, be offset with spending cuts or tax increases.
