Missouri ballot gets progressive

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missourians will have a fourth choice this November when voting for Senator, auditor and some other top offices.

The Progressive Party says it has been approved by the secretary of state to field candidates in six races this fall. The party had to submit more than 10,000 signatures to make the
ballot.

Party organizers say they are affiliated with the Green Party of the United States.

The Democrat, Republican and Libertarian parties all have automatic spots on the Missouri ballot based on the number of votes their candidates received in the last general election.

The Progressive Party candidate for U.S. Senate is Lydia Lewis of St. Louis. It's auditor candidate is Terry Bunker of Kansas City.

The Libertarian Guy said...

Come 2008, the Dems will cry foul, saying Nader (if he runs again) and/or the Green Party candidate (if they have one) will be "stealing" their votes, thereby risking the defeat of Her Highness, Mrs. Bill Clinton.

The Republicans will gripe and moan about MY party, and the Constitution Party, for taking *their* votes with the insidious third-party interlopers on the ballot.

Both sides need to stop looking at votes as "entitlements". Nor are they the property of anyone but the voter.

As for the Progressives on the ballot this November... the more, the merrier. Even if they ARE crazy socialists, they've earned the right to join the fun.
