BREAKING NEWS: November ballot issues approved, rejected

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan certifies a stem-cell research initiative and minimum wage increase to appear on the November ballot. But she said late Tuesday morning that a proposed tobacco tax increase narrowly failed to get enough petition signatures.

Carnahan said a proposal to restore many of last year's cuts to the Medicaid health care program for the poor fell far short of the number of signatures needed to make the ballot.

Voters will have lots to decide in November:

Amendment 6 - Tax exemption on property taxes for non-profit veterans' organizations

Amendment 7 - Elected officials forfeit pensions if convicted of a felony

Stem Cell Amendment

Minimum Wage Law - $6.50/hour starting January 1, 2007
