But Hulshof's Signed It Before
“Low taxes mean a healthy economy, power in the hands of the people, and a strong Missouri. As Governor I will never raise taxes and will always fight to make them as low as possible,” said Steelman. “My record shows it and I want every Missourian to know for certain – there will be no new taxes in a Steelman administration.”
Steelman also challenged her opponent in the August primary, Congressman Kenny Hulshof to follow her lead and sign the pledge.. She said that with the Congress and Washington DC’s out of control spending, the no new tax pledge was more important than ever.
Hulshof has signed the pledge in the past.
Americans for Tax Reform was founded in 1985 by Grover Norquist.
The pledge Steelman signed reads as follows: "I, Sarah Steelman, pledge to the taxpayers of the State of Missouri and all the people of this state, that I will oppose and veto any and all efforts to increase taxes.”
