Gov't Report: Missouri Healthcare "Average"

A new report by the federal government calls the quality of Missouri's health care "average."

But a closer look reveals some disturbing trends and highlights areas needing improvement.

Watch my KY3 News @ 10 HERE.

You can read the entire report HERE and customize your search for specific treatments and diseases.

This is a wide-ranging report, covering more than 100 different measures. It finds that dealing with cancer and heart disease are some of the state's biggest challenges.
According to data provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Missouri is strongest in prenatal care for pregnant women, and certain aspects of care at nursing homes.
Its weakest areas include treating diabetes, infant deaths due to low birth rate and "avoidable hospitalizations" caused by the flu.
