Check out this New York Times story:
DALLAS, Sept. 4 — A Texas rock musician was shot to death here early Monday by a neighbor who fired through a closed door, thinking he was scaring off a burglar.
The incident occurred just three days after a new law took effect strengthening the right of Texans to use deadly force to protect themselves and their property.
Missouri adopted a tougher law this year, that allows people who have a reasonable fear of imminent peril or death to use deadly force against the attacker.
As a local TV news guy, it's at least worth pondering . . . Could it happen here?

That's too bad about the musician dying in such an unforeseen way. What is also sad, though, is the thought that some will see this as a platform to "preach" for more gun control.
It is needful for all to keep in mind the importance of this castle doctrine. It is a shield for people to be able to defend themselves without having to fear the threat legal repercussions for the legal act of self-defense.
Want to see something scary that shouldn't happen here in America?

I respectfully read the above website that the liberatarian guy posted. I will be honest, though, I was not that excited about it at first b/c of the name of the site. Afterall, it is no more the gun or knife that takes a life than it would be a car driven by someone who purposefully kills a pedestrian. It is not the "tool" or item that does the killing...it's the willful choice of an individual.
Anyways...the site did have some good information. Weapons are not toys, and kids do absolutely need education about them and how they are serious business. Kids need the same type of education about many other aspects of life, though. There was some important information on the site that kids to need to consider and hear about!
The point I wish to make, though, is that a gun or knife is not bad in and of itself. It is the motivation that an individual has for carrying a weapon. For those who are serious about self-defense, they will not wrongfully brandish their weapon like those who are carrying a weapon for fashion or to "look cool" like those portrayed in the above website. I did my own research online and wish to post a website, too, for people to consider.

I encourage everyone to look at it with an open mind.
