The Missouri Department of Social Services has announced it will reinstate Medicaid coverage for medical equipment to hundreds of thousands of recipients for a month, in reaction to a court order by a federal judge.
DSS offered this statement on its website today:
"In response to a decision recently issued by Federal Judge Dean Whipple, durable medical equipment claims for services provided to eligible Missouri Medicaid recipients between March 2, 2007 and March 31, 2007 will be paid consistent with the reimbursement policy that was in place August 30, 2005."
"Under the Medicaid Program, durable medical equipment must be authorized by a recipient's health care provider."
