Blunt Smooths Tension With Cantor

Rep. Roy Blunt had a meeting with Rep. Eric Cantor to smooth over "simmering tensions" between the two that built during the recent Republican leadership contest, according to The Hill.

"Blunt and Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) sat down in the whip’s Capitol office for the second time in a week in an attempt to repair lingering damage that occurred during the Missouri Republican’s successful drive to retain his leadership post when Republicans assume the minority next year, GOP aides said," The Hill reports.

"The dustup between Blunt and his chief deputy is largely the result of staff tension, which has been mounting for years but rarely affects the two lawmakers’ close working relationship, members and aides cautioned."

Still, a Blunt spokeswoman called Cantor his "closest friend in Congress," and said the two have never had a discussion that has made Blunt angry.
