Nixon Launches Microsoft Training, Gets Jobs Questions

Governor Jay Nixon announced a partnership with Microsoft Monday that will provide free computer training to nearly 25,000 Missourians.

It's called "Elevate America" -- and at no cost to the state, people can get online tutorials and earn certifications on variety of information technology platforms. Nixon touted the 24,750 available slots at a stop in Springfield.

Man, drawing unemployment, searching for work asks Gov. Nixon: "What are my options if the federal extended benefits run out?"

Nixon: "I expect . . . they're going to continue to extend that. But you don't want unemployment, you want a job."

Adds: "We will work to make sure that we sensitize our federal partners about how important it is to keep these basic unemployment benefits moving . . ."
