McCaskill Sets Likely Location for Springfield Townhall

Sen. Claire McCaskill's previously-announced town hall meeting on healthcare reform in Springfield is now set for Monday, Aug. 31 at the Gillioz Theater.

McCaskill's office said Wednesday that it wasn’t ready to announce the final details until they are entirely worked out but the business manager of the Gillioz Theater told KY3 News the event will happen at that location.

The Gillioz’s staff says the public will be allowed to enter the building beginning at 12:30, with the meeting starting around 1 p.m. The Gillioz is on Park Central East, near Jefferson Avenue, in the downtown area.

McCaskill is holding a series of town hall meetings across the state to hear what citizens think about ideas to reform the healthcare system.

Another area town hall meeting is being considered in West Plains.

It's still possible the Springfield location could change. McCaskill aides were originally considering Juanita K. Hammons Hall at Missouri State University, but switched gears due to space concerns. If attendance projects shift once again, that could trigger another change in venue.

Is this gen. admission with tickets? 1st come 1st serve? How do you find out this info? It seems that they are intentionally making this difficult to attend.
