Latest Hulshof campaign finance report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission shows seven contributions --- two being from the Missouri Republican Party on Saturday.

Democratic Party spokesperson Zac Wright says the report raises major doubts on whether Hulshof really hauled in $1.5 million dollars at Friday's fundraiser with President Bush, as the campaign previously claimed. The Hulshof campaign has said that some of the big contributions came in early, and were already reported.

But Wright is casting doubts: "Congressman Hulshof’s campaign finance claims don’t add up with the facts. If Congressman Hulshof can explain his math, he should prove it."

HULSHOF SPOKESPERSON SCOTT BAKER RESPONDS:

"It cost $1,000 for people to attend the larger event. Those who attended the “pre-event” certainly contributed more, but the vast majority of those contributions were given in advance," said Baker. "Most of the larger donations you see in the weeks leading up to the event are for the POTUS event."

"Here’s real news – Jay Nixon takes $500,000 from AFSCME. Does this mean Nixon has promised to restore collective bargaining for state employees? Obviously, he must agree with their liberal stance on illegal immigration. That’s news."
