Esquire Names Skelton Among "10 Best"

The swanky style magazine lists its endorsements in all 482 races, including 10 in Missouri

It also names Rep. Ike Skelton one of the best leaders in the country:
"From appropriations to strategy, few elected officials have more experience in military affairs than this rangy Missourian. Even before the Iraq war -- which he supported -- Skelton warned that the challenge was not winning the fight but controlling the aftermath. Whoever wins the White House would do the nation a favor by listening to his 30-years plus wisdom."

FOR GOVERNOR: ESQUIRE ENDORSES JAY NIXON . . .
BUT CALLS BOTH "Excellent Candidates."
"(Hulshof) stood up to the arrogant power-mongering of Tom Delay; (Nixon) is a powerful prosecutor of the street and white-collar crime. In short, this is a choice between two excellent candidates."

FOR 7TH DISTRICT CONGRESS ESQUIRE ENDORSES RICHARD MONROE
"Jack Abramoff. Tom Delay. The K Street Project. If these are a few of your favorite things, by all means bring back Blunt."
FOR 8TH DISTRICT CONGRESS ESQUIRE ENDORSES JO ANN EMERSON
"Compassionate conservatism. Affordable medicine. An expansive sense of what it means to be a Republican. If these are a few of your favorite things, please bring back Emerson."
Note: In the 10 Missouri races, Emerson is the only Republican Esquire chose to back.
