VOICEMAIL OF THE DAY
Left after KY3 News @ 6 report, citing A.P. story finding that Alaska has requested $750 million dollars in earmarks (the largest per-capita request) over the two years Sarah Palin has been Governor. The caller is correct, Governors can't formally request earmarks, but they certainly can have influence over the spending process.
So, are earmarks acquired by Alaska under Palin's tenure relevant?
BTW: Will this start a Bumper Sticker Gate II? Probably. (My McCain sticker is out of view).
Earlier, Obama criticized Palin on earmarks at a stop in Indiana:
"I know the governor of Alaska has been saying she's change, and that's great," Obama said. "She's a skillful politician. But, you know, when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change. Come on! I mean, words mean something, you can't just make stuff up."

Dave,
Sounds like you've got a fan! Incidently, he happens to sound like Fred Barnes from the Weekly Standard and the McLaughlin Group.
Great stuff!
BTW, how about some facts to go with that Obama spin:

So if I call with a GOP talking point does that mean it will get time on the KY3 political blog too?
I just love the way you link by association and fail to mention the ammount of earmarks which Senator Obama requested for Illinios alone (not counting Dick Durbin) over the past two years (its been around a billion dollars).
Remember, Obama missed many votes and has not been in the United States Senate much this year. He has been campaigning.
