Emerson 1 of 2 House Members Pitching Universal Health Care

Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson has signed on to a bipartisan effort to provide universal health care.

According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, The Healthy Americans Act would mandate that all Americans have health insurance, either through their jobs or through government "connectors" that will act as insurance pools. The coverage, while organized by the government, would continue to come from private companies.

While the Senate version has 14 supporters, the House version, which Emerson has signed on to, has 19 backers. Only 2 are Republicans. And one of those is Emerson.

Emerson shouldn't be listed as a Republican - she should be listed as a Republicrat. Other than her former deceased husband's legacy - I don't know why she just doesn't switch parties. She votes more democrat than republican.
