Blunt Endorses McCain

Presumptive Republican nominee John McCain received the endorsements of G.O.P. leaders from the U.S. House this morning, including the nod of Minority Whip Roy Blunt.

"I believe this contest is over and I believe it has produced the best possible nominee to take back the House," said Blunt in Washington this morning, as reported by The Chicago Tribune.

Blunt said that he liked the candidacy of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, but understood the mathematical impossibility of his chances at gaining the nomination.

Blunt also saluted McCain's ability to attract independents and "Reagan Democrats." McCain also pledged to campaign in every state and help the party's Congressional candidates.
