Polk County Asks For Tax To Build New Jail

The issue of overcrowding will soon face Polk County voters. In about a month, they'll decide whether to raise the sales tax to pay for a new judicial facility.

Polk County is one of several in the Ozarks that have seen this type of ballot proposal over the last few years. But opponents say a half-percent sales tax hike is no way to solve the problem.
