McCaskill Wants War Contracts Renewed

Sen. Claire McCaskill is teaming up with freshman Sen. Jim Webb to push for an independent commission to investigate wartime contracts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But Republican Senator Jim Warner, who McCaskill has complimented in the past, is pushing back.

McCaskill has described the proposed panel as bipartisan and similar to one set up by Harry Truman that investigated government waste during World War II.

A Washington-based group called OMB Watch has already endorsed the proposal because "oversight of wartime contracts is one of the most critical tasks facing Congress."
