IOWA REPUBLICANS
Mitt Romney 31%
Fred Thompson 15%
Rudy Giuliani 13%
John McCain 8%
Mike Huckabee 8%
IOWA DEMOCRATS
John Edwards 23%
Barack Obama 22%
Hillary Clinton 21%
Bill Richardson 14%
Other notable nuggets from the poll:
- 51% of Iowa Republicans polled support a U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq over the next 6 months. A slim majority. But still a majority.
- 32% of Iowa Democrats say ideology is the most important trait when selecting a nominee. That just beats out charisma 30% (Obama) and experience 27% (Hillary.)

Although Edwards appears to be ahead by a narrow margin, the real concern for anyone who would like to see this modern day "Republican" nightmare fade shamefully into the sunset is Hillary. The prospect of another Clinton in the Whitehouse is terrifying. And the scariest thing about Hillary Clinton is not her ideology, its her name. A victory for Hillary will result in visceral mobilization of the right wingers. You know, the same ones who foamed at the mouth when her husband was the Executive - but this time it will be worse. Nothing mobilizes the right like a Clinton, and all those hacks from the 90's are still around. So, please, for the sake of progress, Hillary, let out a Howard Dean scream or something. Spare this country the polarizing political cat fight that will inevitably ensue if you win. Be a real patriot, Hil, and put your lifelong dream of being Commander in Cheif to bed.
