That's what Rep. Roy Blunt thinks of the Democrats latest attempt to pass a war funding bill.
House Democrats put up a bill that sends the President only half the funds he wants. Before the other half is released (about $53 billion), the Democrats would require another vote in July.
Blunt told CNN today, that's just plain stupid.
"Anytime you give an insurgent extremist group a short-term deadline and say the message here is just to create all of the chaos and all the dangers for both Iraqis and Americans in Iraq and you only have to do it for 30 or 40 days, that's a stupid thing for us to do," Rep. Roy Blunt said.
"We're in act two of this melodrama right now, and act two is designed to have no more conclusion than act one was. So we've spent -- now we're into the third month, I believe, of debating on bills that have no chance of being signed while the funding for the troops is not coming and while we're having to make lots of accommodations, adjustments that have impact on military and their family. And, frankly, the first people impacted are things that are out there for families," Blunt said at a press conference.
Still, even Blunt acknowledged earlier this week that it would be difficult to maintain support for the war if progress can't be shown by September.
