KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele will visit Missouri later this month to raise money for the state party, The Notebook has learned.
Steele will be in Springfield on Friday, August 21st for an event, a GOP source said.
A private reception and fundraiser is planned. Steele will also be visiting other Missouri cities, but specific dates and times are not yet set in stone.
Steele is the first African American chair of the Republican National Committee. His fiery and at times controversial media appearances have attracted both notoriety and criticism.
But the source said Steele's main goal is to rally Missouri Republicans and raise money for the 2010 cycle.
