Steele Expected to Produce Record GOP Fundraiser For Springfield

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele's visit to Springfield Friday is expected to produce the largest GOP fundraiser the city has ever seen, according to knowledgeable Republicans.

Steele will hold a private reception with high-level donors at 11:30 a.m. at The Tower Club in downtown Springfield. A 12 p.m. luncheon will follow for those who purchased tickets. Tickets were $100 each, but some wealthier donors gave much more, according to a GOPer. Approximately 150 people are expected to attend the mid-day event.

Lt. Gov Peter Kinder, House Speaker Ron Richard, National Committeeman Lance Beshore and 7th District Congressional candidates Jack Goodman, Gary Nodler and Billy Long are all expected attendees.

Springfield Representative and #30th District State Senate candidate Bob Dixon will deliver the invocation.

Early Friday morning, Steele will appear on the Vincent David Jericho radio show. He'll do no other media, as by the direction of the Republican National Committee, a source says.

Steele is also expected to make stops in St. Louis and Kansas City to raise money for the Missouri Republican Party.

Thanks for the plug. I did not realize he was not doing any other media.

After our saw-off not sure he isn't wishing he didn't come on my show either!
