Bond: Carnahan Tracker Would Be Bored

"We Don't Need A Tracker Here"

Stumping for Roy Blunt's U.S. Senate campaign in Springfield Saturday, Sen. Kit Bond poked fun at Democrat Robin Carnahan for not campaigning as public or as hard as Blunt.

"You know what the easiest job in the Republican Party in Missouri would be, would be to be a tracker for his general election likely opponent," Bond said, without mentioning Carnahan by name.

"As far as I know, she hasn't gone out and campaigned anywhere," Bond added.

Carnahan has said that she is actively campaigning, but is balancing that with her duties as Secretary of State. It's true that Blunt's campaign appears more active, shooting out weekly releases about the Congressman's whereabouts and events. Some observers attribute Blunt's early aggressiveness to his potential vulnerability of attracting a serious primary challenger.

"If you were a tracker on her campaign, you wouldn't have anything to do," Bond said.

ALSO: Bond took a fun poke at The Notebook for serving as the "tracker" for the event, as he noticed the Missouri Democratic Party tracker was not in attendance. (Yes, The Notebook was shooting himself with a hand-held Flip VideoCam. Maybe the Senator can land us a grant for another weekend photographer?)

Bond made his remarks at the Greene County GOP TARGET Barbeque event, an annual picnic fundraiser that attracts candidates and local loyal Republicans.

ALSO in attendance: Congressman Roy Blunt, Auditor candidate Allen Icet, 7th District candidates Jack Goodman, Gary Nodler, Billy Long and Darrell Moore.

NOT in attendance: Auditor candidate Tom Schweich & State Sen. Chuck Purgason, who is also running for U.S. Senate

Shalom, Dave ~ The radio rabbi of "Ramble & Rumble with Rabbi" was also there (and his wife, Dee), way in the back of the pavillion. The venue was poor for microphone and no riser for the "cattle callers" made it difficult to see and clearly hear. The turn-out, surprisingly was small, and yet lots of posters, bumper stickers (minus anything from Nodler ... did you ask him why?). My wife and Merre Putnam (wife of John Putnam, Jasper County Republican Chairman and Missouri FAIR TAX State Director, both also in attendance) commented that "Catanese" was mentioned 3-4 times. I only heard your name once. Have a good week-end. Love & Prayers, Rabbi DF Eukel, host of "Ramble & Rumble with Rabbi"
