Earmark War

Sen. Claire McCaskill is teaming up with South Carolina Republican Jim Demint to offer an amendment to require that any earmarked spending project for 2009 get a two-thirds vote to go forward, reports The Wall Street Journal.

John McCain's opposition to earmarks is common knowledge. But the Journal reports that both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have signed on as co-sponsors.

Has McCaskill given Obama religion on earmarks?

House Dems and Senate Republicans are working behind the scenes to kill the amendment . . . so stay tuned.
