Can't Make It Up

Results from the Ames, Iowa Straw poll have been delayed due to problems with electronic voting machines, according to reports from several media outlets.

Some of the ballots need to be recounted. Campaign officials are estimating a very low turnout -- around 14,000 braved the 100 degree heat at the fair to vote today. That's down from the estimated 23,000 who came out for W. the first time around back in 1999.

So, we wait . . .

So, Dave:
Romney 31%
Huckabee 18%
Brownback 15%
Tancredo 13%

Who goes home? Who bows out tomorrow?

Interesting. Romney pulled down a higher percentage of the vote than did Governor Bush in 1999. He also enjoyed a 3% larger margin of victory than did Bush.

But, in fairness, no Rudy, Fred Thompson, or McCain. In '99 McCain did not participate at Ames but was not yet viewed as a "top tier" candidate.
