Immigration soaked up most of the media coverage last week. But the U.S. Senate also took up an overlooked vote on whether to confirm the President's new personal war adviser.
Lt. General Douglas Lute was approved quietly and overwhelmingly 94-4.
Who voted against Lute's nomination? Three freshman Democrats, included Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill.
Sen. Jon Tester of Montana and Sen. Jim Webb of Virginia joined McCaskill, as did Sen. Robert Byrd of West Virginia. Byrd said he opposed the confirmation because Lute will not be required to testify before Congress.
