It's Hoyer Over Murtha

From the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON - House Democrats on Thursday chose Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer to be House majority leader over Rep. John Murtha, the choice of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, in line to become speaker.

Hoyer was elected on a vote of 149-86.

The balloting marked a personal triumph for him, but also a snub to Pelosi, moments after the rank and file selected her unanimously to become speaker when the House convenes in January.

Wow. Heads you lose, tails... you lose. Choosing between Murtha and Hoyer is like choosing between a boot to the head and a ball bat to the head.

The Dems need some non-socialist, level-headed people in their top power positions.

OTOH, I hope they revert to type, let power go to their heads, and muck things up just as badly as the Repubs did in the last Congress. Show the American people it really doesn't matter which gaggle of power-hungry, money-spending, government-expanding polyester suits get to appear on CNN or make big decisions on the House floor.

Yeah, I'm pessimistic. I'd rather not be, though.

Personally, I think God told her to do it because she was in a "churchy" mood when she spoke to the media about it. ;)
