Talent vs. McCaskill Part One is Today

Republican Sen. Jim Talent and Democratic candidate Claire McCaskill will appear together for the first time during their hotly contested campaign today at the Lake of the Ozarks.

The two will appear as part of a Missouri Press Association forum, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning.

"Our newspaper members are pleased the candidates will attend our convention and answer our questions about where they stand on the issues," said Steve Oldfield, president of MPA and publisher of The Adrian Journal.

Talent and McCaskill will be on stage at the forum for U.S. Senate candidates at The Lodge of Four Seasons, Lake Ozark, in conjunction with the Press Association's 140th Annual Convention.
MPA Executive Director Doug Crews tells the KY3 Political Blog that all 4 U.S. Senate candidates are expected to appear. David Lieb of the Associated Press will moderate. Each candidate will be allowed a one-to-two minute opening and closing statement. Crews says that Lieb and members of the press will ask the questions. Lieb can give a candidate a 30-second response if he believes the candidate is entitled to a rebuttal.

Missouri state auditor candidates have been invited to appear at a 9:15 forum with the same format.

We'll be there for the whole shabang.

I wonder if Talent will ask her to explain to us how, exactly, raising taxes on oil companies is supposed to lower the price we pay for gas.

I also wonder why the Libertarian candidate is again excluded.
