Former U.S. Senator Jean Carnahan will be the special guest when Democrats picnic in Phelps Grove Park next week. The picnic is Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Carnahan name may not mean much to the Greene County electorate as a whole. Here's how the family name has done in recent elections among county voters:
2004 Catherine Hanaway 57%, Robin Carnahan 40%
2002 Jim Talent 59%, Jean Carnahan 40%
2000 John Ashcroft 60%, Mel Carnahan 39%
1996 Margaret Kelly 52%, Mel Carnahan 45%
Of course, every vote counts, even if you don't win a county. Consider who ultimately won those elections.
