Clinton, Romney Remain Strong in N.H.

Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and Republican Mitt Romney are both maintaining solid leads in the crucial first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire, according to a new poll conducted by Franklin Pierce University.

N.H. DEMS
Hillary Clinton 36%
Barack Obama 18%
John Edwards 12%
Bill Richardson 10%

N.H. REPUBLICANS
Mitt Romney 30%
Rudy Giuliani 23%
John McCain 14%

Notables:
Hillary's lead is growing, and almost looks insurmountable, barring an error. Then again, Iowa's results always scramble the New Hampshire field. Polling notes New Hampshire voters feel Obama is more progressive, but also that Granite Staters are more risk-averse during wartime. Richardson shows improvement. On the Republican side, it is McCain who continues to slide. He lead N.H. back in March with 29%. Meanwhile, Romney is up 8 points since March. Oh, and in case you're wondering, Thompson is still in single digits here, despite leading some national polls.

The Franklin Pierce University/WBZ poll was conducted by RKM Research and Communications between Sept. 11 and Sept. 14. For the Republican poll 400 people were interviewed by phone and 403 people were interviewed for the Democratic poll. The margin of error is +/- 4.9 percent.

  1. Bill Edwards--Hmmm. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just morph these people into the perfect candidate.
