Remembering Governor Hearnes

Missouri citizens and their leaders will honor the life of former Governor Warren Hearnes at his state funeral in Jefferson City Wednesday.

The state's 46th chief executive will lie in the Capitol Rotunda from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The memorial service begins at 2 p.m.
The Hearnes family, state officials, Gov. Jay Nixon and the First Lady are expected to proceed past the casket at approximately 10 a.m.

Members of the public should enter through the carriage entrance doors to join the line to pass by the casket.

The funeral service will begin in the first floor Rotunda.

Funeral service for Gov. Hearnes to begin at 2 p.m.
Following the service, the casket of former Gov. Hearnes will proceed out the carriage entrance on the south side of the Capitol. The hearse carrying the late Governor will then join a procession around the building; military honors, including a 19-gun salute and a helicopter fly-over, will be accorded to Gov. Hearnes on the north side of the Capitol. Gov. Hearnes then will be transported back to Charleston, Mo., for another funeral service and burial on Friday.
