A group called Southwest Missouri for Obama will hold a "Barbeque for Barack" in Springfield Saturday as part of a national event.
The barbeque will be held at Silver Springs Park on 1100 North Hampton Avenue in Springfield between 4-7 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Burgers and hot dogs will be served.
According to organizer Ashley Brown, the goal is to help expand Obama's support in the area. "We would like to reach a goal of 100 supporters at this event, who hopefully will later be able to work on voter registration and other forms of community activism," writes Brown in the press release.

You Go Acorn and anyone else working to make sure people have their right to vote:
Clearly in our nation’s history we have fought wars over the concept of Democracy and Freedom. I think all government elected and governmental officials in general should consider this to be the most important issue we have and make sure we enforce rather than trample these rights.
And yes I think local city elections can be just as important for the people as who is elected President---period.
