Lt. Gov. Candidate Announcement Tour Skips Springfield

Democratic candidate Mike Evans will formally launch his campaign for Lieutenant Governor tomorrow, but his statewide announcement tour won't include Springfield.

Evans will kick off his launch in Joplin at the Union Hall on 2001 Empire Ave. But then he'll hopscotch Springfield and head to Sedalia.

On Friday, Evans will continue his tour in Jefferson City, Columbia, Cape Girardeau and Pevely.

His scheduler told us she wasn't really sure why Springfield was left off the tour. It is notable that no stops are scheduled in Kansas City and St. Louis. Maybe that's part of the theme.

I am attempting to set up an interview with Evans when both of our schedules can work.

One local Democratic operative tells the KY3 Political Notebook that it doesn't really matter, because most Springfield Dems have already lined up with Rep. Sam Page.
