Gov. Matt Blunt is reacting to Planned Parenthood's pending lawsuit against his "Alternatives to Abortion" legislation that was signed into law last month.
The legislation, according to Blunt's office, "keeps abortion providers like Planned Parenthood out of Missouri classrooms."
"The pro-life legislation we enacted made permanent the Alternatives to Abortion program, keeps abortion providers like Planned Parenthood from teaching in our classrooms and provides safeguards for Missouri women by requiring that abortion clinics meet basic safety standards. Planned Parenthood is seeking to overturn this common sense law in an effort to deregulate abortion and bring abortion providers back into Missouri classrooms. We must protect the rights of the most vulnerable and this common sense Missouri law must be vigorously defended," Blunt said in a statement.
As reported earlier this week, some of Blunt's neighbors are upset at his actions towards Springfield's Planned Parenthood.
