JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Missouri senators passed a $66 million annual package of tax breaks late Wednesday night. Passage of the measure came after lawmakers turned back an attempt to strip out a tax incentive for large-scale redevelopments of rundown parts of St. Louis.

“The Quality Jobs Act is the most important economic development tool we have had to help create family-supporting jobs with good wages and health care benefits; increasing its capacity from $12 million to $40 million will allow our state to remain competitive as we work to attract and retain quality jobs for hard working Missourians," said Gov. Matt Blunt in a statement.
