Rothenberg: Talent Didn't Deserve to Lose

What do Harold Ford Jr. and Jim Talent have in common?

They are both candidates in the 2006 election cycle who didn't deserve to lose, according to political pro Stu Rothenberg.

Rothenberg gives out his awards in his latest column. But bottom line: he names Talent as one of the Best Unsuccessful Candidates of the year.

"They shouldn't give up on politics just yet," Rothenberg writes.

Although many in the media blame Ford's lost on color, I think that is over stated. Corker's campaign constantly pointed out that Ford had never held a private secter job, had never pasted the bar exam, and lived a playboy life style. Inherited power works great in the northeast but is harder to sell in the south. The Blunt dynasty may be proving this theory wrong!

Conundrum: Talent didn't deserve to lose, and McCaskill didn't deserve to win. Screwed, either way.

Yeah, I'm that cynical. ;)
