Post Dispatch: Blacks Jump to Talent

Just last week, I posted a story about how many progressives and liberal Democrats said they are unenthusiastic about the candidacy of Claire McCaskill for U.S. Senate.

Several said they felt she was trying to be too much like "Republican-lite" on issues like the war and terrorism. Others complained they weren't being represented, and expressed doubts on whether she can win.

Then, many mainstream Democrats told me I was wrong, that I was talking to the wrong people, that "the base is stronger than ever."

Now this, from Sylvester Brown Jr. of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Neglected by Democrats, blacks jump the party line
