S-CHIP Debate Hits Springfield

Supporters of a bill to expand the state children's health insurance program or S-CHIP are now turning their efforts towards overturning a presidential veto. Calling it too costly, President Bush vetoed legislation that would have expanded the program by 35 billion dollars and almost four million children. A small group of protesters gathered near Rep. Roy Blunt's office Thursday night, urging the Congressman to support the S-CHIP expansion. The president has said he would approve more money for the program, but not as much as Congress asked for.
